Jon and Richie had boarded the plane for London, In a few hours Jon would be with Beth again. Being with her all summer , he had become accustomed to having her right by his side. He never thought much about them being apart til she left to finish the semester. He missed and thought of her more often than he would have imagined possible.
The announcement from the stewardess giving instructions brought Jon out of his reverie. He looked over at Richie with concern, His normally exuberant friend had been reserved and quiet since they reunited after the short break. It worried Jon. Richie would head straight back to the hotel after the shows not bothering to shower or participate in meeting the fans. He had even missed a couple interviews.
"Hey man everything ok?" Jon asked
"Wh..a .. Oh yea its cool " Richie responded startled
Jon watched his friend war with emotions silently as he questioned him. "You sure? Cause man since you come back from seeing Lizzie , you haven't well.. been yourself. Did you and Lizzie have a fight?"
"Oh no .. nothin' like that " Rich smiled a bit his eyes taking on a far away look as he waved off Jons question.
"What is it then?" Jon pressed
Richie sighed " Ah.....Nothin' really "
Jon rolled his eyes "Man I know ya better than that..."
Richie sighed again then after a long pause said " Lizzie is in the hospital. "
Jon at first just looked at Rich in shock then stammered. "What!!!! Why didn't you tell us ? What is wrong??" he rambled a million questions at once.
" No , No she is fine just she has these cystic thingies..." Richie used his hands to exaggerate his confusion and also cover up the fact that he didn't want to go into details about it right then. " and they put her on this med but she is joining us in a few days . She is fine "
"Cystic thingies? Man that don't sound..." Jon was cut short
"Na she is fine believe me . She .. you will see .. the meds are ... Its cool man honest"
Jon sighed not really sure if he was believing Rich
"So man , bet you cant wait to get to Beth " Rich said changing the subject " Better make sure her roomies are hard sleepers " cracking a bit of a forced smile
Jon knew when his friend didn't want to talk about something anymore replied " Yea I never thought I could miss her so much . "
"Yea I know what ya saying there . How she is doing? "
"Good . Her schedule is a bit rough with her trying to get all her classes in to graduate early .Doc gave her due date for April, May and she wants to be done before then just in case whenever this baby decides to make its appearance. "
"Ya know what you are having yet?"
"No not yet Beth said next visit should be able to find out I think its a girl "
"A girl eh? What makes you think it's a girl "
" I don't know just a feeling I got "
" Could be wrong? then again could be twins?" Rich teased
"Bite your tongue.. one at a time is good for now " Jon laughed " Boy or girl as long as they are healthy. "
"So true man .. "
Jon and Richie continued their casual banter right up until their plane landed in London. Richie promising that once Lizzie arrived they would come over to visit. Saying their goodbyes, Richie headed to the hotel to meet up with the guys .
