Family Ties

Chapter 20


The early morning sun illuminated through the bus window awakening Jon. Moving carefully not to wake her , he raised up on one elbow to watch her sleep and smiled then leaned down to kiss her forehead . He swallowed hard fighting back the emotions that threatened overtake him again as he recalled what she had done for him. No one not even Dot had done this for him , in fact she despised it .

Sure there was the groupies that would blow him but that was just another conquest for those girls and they moved on, where as Beth did this out of -- what was it she did it for? Could it be love? He started to shake his head in denial when he really thought about it. That concept couldn't be so far fetched. They had known each other for most of her young life.

Oh how he would love to return the favor and give her the same pleasure she had given him . He groaned at the thought of tasting her Bet she'd taste like honey. His jeans tightened as if in agreement with his devilish thoughts.

That was it, Jon knew what he wanted to do . He was going to talk to Tico and hoped to get his blessing to date her. He hadn't wanted another relationship. But Beth-- she changed all that. Why he hadn't notice before, she was too young thats why . Now she was a stunning young woman and he would be a liar if that wasn't the first thing that made him take notice. But there was so many more reasons now that he thought about it. Beth was everything he wanted in a woman and more.

But what about Tico? What if he doesn't approve? He hoped he did but if not he still was gonna go for it.

He sighed as he slowly pulled away, leaning down to sweetly kiss her before he left.

Jon made his way up to Tico's room and knocked on the door. He nervously shuffled his feet as he waited for Tico to answer the door, hearing some scrambling and mumbling he knew he came at an inopportune moment .

With a click of the door , Tico opened the door and peeked his head out.

"Didn't wake you did I" Jon asked

"Na not yet Lisa and I were just talking " He answered and winked.

Jon smiled knowing full well what talking they were doing "Mind if I have a word with you?"

"Sure" He opened the door and let Jon in. Jon heard the shower running and had to laugh a bit knowing Lisa was in there cleaning up.

"What's up Jon?" Tico questioned him. He already had an idea what this little meeting might be about. He'd been watching Jon and Beth closely the last few days

"Well I was--well um........ " for the first time in a long time Jon was unsure of how to go about something.

"Spit it out man, You want to date my cousin, am I right?" Tico said matter of factly

Jon's mouth dropped in shock " How did you know? "

"Oh c'mon Jonny I'm not blind. I've seen you both this last week, The looks, the flirting "

"Well .. yeah" Jon grinned a bit sheepishly

"Look, I'm not sure if it's a good idea. But--she's an adult now. I can't really stop her. I'm warning you , just don't hurt her . That all I'm sayin' and if you do. You will have hell to pay " Tico looked stern but had a bit of a grin on his face.

Jon, relieved by Tico blessing, however begrudgingly it was, turned the conversation to slightly safer territory, explaining a bit of how things had changed.

Beth tapped on Tico's door but after hearing the conversation between her brother and Jon, she opened the door quietly and stepped inside. A small smile tugged at the corner of her lips, as she listened to Jon explaining to Tico about all these new feelings he was experiencing, and how he just had to see where this was going to lead. It warmed her heart that Jon and Tico seemed to be in agreement about her dating.

Finally he is letting me be an adult..... it's about damn time! 

Both Teek and Jon looked up at the same time noticing Bethy standing there and they wondered just how long she'd been eavesdropping. She had a sleepy smile on her face "There you are" She looked at Jon "I wondered where you ran off to"

"Oh sorry" he smiled "I just had to talk to Teek and I didn't want to wake you "

" He was begging for my permission. " Tico teased

"Well did he get it? or you gonna treat me like a kid still? " Beth said sarcastically as she stood with her arms crossed and an expression that made Jon chuckle.

"Well its not like I can stop you anyway miss independant" Tico said with a hint of sarcasm "But I guess I'd rather have you dating Jon than all those asses out there"

Beth rolled her eyes and Tico laughed. Jon walked behind her wrapping his arms around her waist and kissing her cheek causing Bethy to blush a bit making Tico wonder what exactly had happened between them last night.
