Beth and Jon both nearly choked on their drinks , eyes widened Jon finally whispered to her “ Tell me she didn't just say that”
All Beth could do was nod she expected to hear her say yes they loved each other and such but not that ..
Dave was floored showing conflicting emotions flashed across his face. The anger just exploded and he stood up and punched Richie right across the jaw, causing Liz to lose her grip on his arm and stumble back a few feet yelling "DAVID!!!"
Richie hadn't seen it coming and it snapped his head back making him swear under his breath. And though his natural instinct was to swing back he only rubbed his jaw a bit and shook his head as David's voice reached a fevered pitch.
“WHAT THE FUCK , MY BABY SISTER ….SHE'S ONLY 16!!!" David spat venom spewing from each syllable.
"17 DAVID!" Lizzie spit at him with disgust as she stepped back up beside Richie in order to show a united front "You were too busy playing rockstar to remember last Friday!"
Her rude comment elicited an exasperated "Elizabeth please!!!" From her mother who was at this point completely lost as to how to handle the situation
David cut his eyes at her with a look of death "Shut up Liz!!!" then turned back to Richie "HOW COULD YOU??? WE TRUSTED YOU AND YOU …….. “ Dave thought his anger was gone but in the next instant made a move to go for Rich once more
“DAVID STOP IT NOW!!!!!!!" Liz slid in between he husband and her brother, and if not for Jon's quick as a whip reflexes David would have knocked his sister to the floor if not out entirely. Jon grabbed him from behind and said cool it Dave... cool it now!....Rich... Liz....just ... back off..... over there" He nodded his head to the other corner of the room and turned to speak to Mr. and Mrs Rashbaum in a low whisper.
“Listen I know this is a shock but right now might not be the best time for all of this maybe everyone back off a bit and let cooler heads prevail , then just you and Ed go talk to Richie and Lizzie alone. I don’t want to sound all business like and uncaring but fans paid big money to see us tonight and to let them down … I just think take time to cool down lets do the show then you talk to them”
“Maybe you are right? Dear? “ Flo looked at her husband “ None of this is getting us anywhere all this fighting.”
“Alright , but this is far from over” Ed grumbled glaring at Richie
Richie just locked eyes with Jon and nodded letting Jon know he understood then put a protective arm around Lizzie's shoulders and led her back into a room off the main dressing room, where they would be there for show time yet out of the way and everyone's vision.
Jon breathed a sigh of relief as he realized Richie would abide by his wishes right then.“Good , now let me go try and cool down Dave” Jon exhaled
Jon walked over to Dave who by then was wanting to punch anything near him.
“Dave come on man , Lets just chill and …… “
“ I CANT … I cant forgive him ever! He lied and said he would take care of her. THIS IS NOT TAKING CARE OF HER” He spat as he raised his hand punching the wall.
“ I know , I know but you have to try for the show at least do you just want let your , our fans down? “
“is that all you care about the damn fucking show!! “ he snapped back
“Of course not , but is it doing anyone any good going off like a firecracker. You wont make it better you will make it worse. Push her even more to him?”
"More to him?!? SHE MARRIED HIM!!!!!! no hint of anything just up and MARRIED THE BASTARD!!! told her father to pretty much fuck off... she's not his responsibility anymore?? what is that shit?!?! that's not my Lizzie I know and love!!! What did he do to her?!?1 I'm gonna kill him!!!!"
Tico had been basically stay a distance from this because he actually knew what David was feeling. Though Beth was old enough to make her own decisions still it was a blow to him nevertheless . He finally somewhat come to terms with Beth and Jon .
He stepped forward “ Dave I know what you are feeling man. I know it’s a bit different but still . It took me a bit to accept Jon and Beth . I didn't want to believe she was old enough to love anyone to know what she wanted yet in life. That she couldn't have grown up so fast . She is my Bethy, my girl . Now she doesn't need me anymore. That hurt that I wasn't number one in her life anymore. But as I stood back and watched how Jon is with her. The love that is there . I couldn't in good conscience deny this anymore. “
“Bethy aint 16!!!!!!!!!” he growled "17... whatever!!!!!! Oh my god!!" he yelled
“No she isn't but still love doesn't know age, especially when these girls have grown up so close to all of us “ he put his hand on his shoulder." Dave I don't think she's doing this on purpose I think maybe she just.... was scared.....and.. well... you know how Richie is, has always been .... just does it doesn't think ya know... but maybe... you don't have to accept it but at least give them a chance to prove themselves..."
“Umphhhhhhh “ and he stormed off .
